Introduction
EaseUS and Wondershare Recoverit both include an attractive and straightforward user interface to make the recovery of your data easy. But, looks aren’t everything. After all, an appealing user interface isn’t going to recover your data. Therefore, in this comparison, we put the two up against each other to see which can offer the most to its users.
We’ve already thoroughly reviewed each of these tools against specific data points. This comparison will be based on what each tool can objectively offer you to ensure it remains unbiased and fact-based. Let’s dive in.
Data Recovery Wizard is one of the many applications offered by EaseUS, a company that has been active in the recovery industry since 2005. It's popular for its generous free data recovery threshold, as well as its reliability in most data loss scenarios.
Wondershare Recoverit is another recovery tool that's well-established and trusted by many. It's the preferred tool for users who like to take advantage of its video repair feature, something that's not seen in many recovery applications.
Top Pros
-
Scan results. Scan results are easy to navigate and grouped in a user-friendly file tree.
-
Scan speed. Scanning is very fast and doesn't make you wait a long time for results.
-
Free recovery. The software lets you recover up to 2 GB of data for free if you agree to mention the product on a social media network.
Top Pros
-
Modern interface. The interface is modern and up-to-date. There are options to scan folders and other specific locations, like the Recycle Bin. But, this is primarily a cosmetic addition that does little to aid with recovery outside of user experience.
-
Create bootable disks. The program can create bootable disks that bypass the operating system, allowing you to recover your data.
-
Video Repair. The program can repair video files that refuse to play.
Top Cons
-
Pop-up ads. Pop-up ads for other products appear frequently, and they can't be turned off.
-
Inaccurate time estimations. When the software estimates how much time an operation will likely take, the displayed time is almost always wrong.
-
Limited preview capabilities. The formats supported for previews are very limited, and even popular photo formats are not always viewable.
Top Cons
-
False positives for bad sectors on Bitlocker devices. When scanning Bitlocker-encrypted devices, the program shows that there are bad sectors. This is a false positive.
-
Scanning Bitlocker-encrypted devices. In order to scan devices encrypted by Bitlocker, you need to unlock them in the operating system.
-
Confirming Bitlocker status. In order for the program to detect that the Bitlocker volume is unlocked, it needs to restart.

EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard and Wondershare Recoverit are very similarly priced, with Recoverit being just slightly cheaper. Wondershare Recoverit has three different plans for personal users, each allowing you to purchase on a monthly, yearly, or lifetime basis. The lowest plan, Essential, offers only file recovery. The highest plan, Premium, gives you full access to the software, including the bootable toolkit and advanced recovery features. EaseUS makes it a little bit simpler, offering full access to the software with the option of monthly, yearly, or lifetime licenses, each one coming with free upgrades.
EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard offers a much better allocation for free data recovery at 2GB as opposed to the 100MB offered by Wondershare Recoverit, which is great for trialing the software. If you’re looking for barebones recovery, Wondershare Recoverit’s Essential license is the cheapest of the two. But, if you’re looking for more reliable recovery (which we’ll discuss later), consider spending just a little bit more on an EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard license.
Data Recovery Performance
A data recovery application can have all the bells and whistles, but none of that is important if it struggles to adequately recover your files. How well can each recovery tool recover your lost data from various file systems? Let’s take a look.
Scan of File Systems

1 | FAT32 partitions | Partial support | Partial support |
2 | exFAT partitions | Partial support | Partial support |
3 | NTFS partitions | Full support | Partial support |
4 | EXT4 partitions | Not supported | Not supported |
5 | HFS+ partitions | Full support | Not supported |
6 | APFS partitions | Not supported | Not supported |
7 | BitLocker support | Full support | Partial support |
8 | Windows shadow copies scanning | Not supported | Not supported |
As you can see, EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard offers support for more file systems. It has full support for common file systems like NTFS and HFS+ and even offers recovery from BitLocker-encrypted drives. On the other hand, Wondershare Recoverit only offers partial support for any file system it recovers from, and the Windows version doesn’t support recovery from drives with macOS file systems.
Feature Comparison
A good data recovery tool comes with additional features that add value to the application. They’re a great way to retain loyal users and add further functionality that could add an extra layer of protection against data loss.

Both EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard and Wondershare Recoverit are regularly updated and have an active presence on social media. Support is also good for both applications, with each having helpdesk, live chat, and phone support channels.
In terms of Usability, both applications are very similar, with EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard having a slight edge thanks to the ability to sort results. This is also true for Device Support as EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard offers partial support for RAID configurations.
Recovery performance is where the gap between the two starts to increase. EaseUS largely outperformed Wondershare Recoverit in the real-life recovery challenge that involved raw recovery. Wondershare Recoverit struggled to recover common file styles such as MP4 and MOV, as well as most other video formats. As a whole, EaseUS offered better support for a wide range of file types, many of which Wondershare Recoverit didn’t support at all.
Wrapping Up
After a detailed look at what each data recovery tool has to offer, it’s clear that EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard comes out on top for this one. Both are similarly priced and relatively easy to use for a user of any level, but the similarities stop when it comes to recovery performance. EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard has better support for more file types, proving itself to be a more effective and reliable data recovery tool when compared to Wondershare Recoverit.

A good recovery solution with support for a wide range of file types.
