Last update:

We live in a world of clones—products that look and feel eerily similar to others already on the market. This is especially true in the data recovery software industry, where white label data recovery applications are as common as empty marketing promises. So, where does iBeesoft Data Recovery fall in this spectrum? If the note below doesn’t answer the question well enough for you, then our comprehensive review definitely will.

Note: iBeesoft Data Recovery is essentially a clone of the popular EaseUS Data Recovery application.

Main Pros and Cons of iBeesoft Data Recovery

PROS

  • Intuitive scan results. Scan outcomes are presented in an easy-to-read format, arranged in a user-friendly hierarchical tree of files.
  • Fast scan speed. The software performs scans at an impressively high speed, reducing user wait time for the process to complete.
  • Free data recovery. The program offers the recovery of up to 2 GB of data at no cost, providing a valuable free option for users.
  • Full HFS file system support. Scanning is supported on HFS disks, and the software even shows the original locations of the recovered data.
  • Smart results labeling. Recovered files are categorized efficiently using tags, such as by the manufacturer of the camera for photographs.
  • On-the-fly file recovery. You can recover files without having to pause or stop the scanning process, offering more flexibility.
  • Comprehensive knowledge base. The software boasts an extensive collection of articles covering a wide range of data loss scenarios.
  • Attractive discounts and promotions. The company regularly offers promotional discounts and coupon codes, making it more affordable to acquire the software.

CONS

  • Clone of EaseUS. The software is essentially a limited-functionality copy of EaseUS Data Recovery and operates in a similar manner.
  • Lack of view Modes. The software lacks various viewing modes for the tree of found files.
  • Inaccurate time estimates. The estimated time for operations is often incorrect.
  • Limited preview features. Supported formats for file previews are severely restricted, making it difficult to preview even popular photo formats.
  • Preview size limitations. Preview of files are limited to 100 megabytes.
  • Slow recovery speed. The write speed for recovered files is notably slow, requiring extended wait times for the program to complete the recovery process.
  • Poor EXT3, EXT4 support. File and folder structure recovery is not supported on these file systems—only signature-based scans are available.
  • Lack of byte-level disk imaging. The software does not offer the capability to create byte-level disk images.
  • Absence of S.M.A.R.T. data analysis. There is no S.M.A.R.T. (Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology) module for monitoring disk health.
  • No file type grouping. The software does not offer the ability to categorize found files by type, such as photos, videos, etc.
  • No auto-resume for interrupted scans. If the device gets disconnected during a scan, there is no automatic resume feature; manual intervention is required to continue the scan.
  • Poor FAT32 support. Known issues include not locating small files in root directories or large quantities of small files, and loss of root folder structure upon scanning.
  • Poor exFAT support. Issues with exFAT scans include not finding small files, corrupting folder structures, and occasionally failing to recover files from certain paths.
  • Lack of file recoverability ratings. The software doesn't offer chances or ratings for successful file recovery.
  • Lengthy post-processing. After the main scan, an unpredictable and lengthy post-processing phase occurs, during which the software interface is unresponsive.
  • Inconvenient lost partition search. The software doesn't provide a dedicated scan for locating lost partitions; all found data is lumped together without separation by partition.

iBeesoft Data Recovery Summary

👍 Worth a try

Most data recovery applications that are clearly white label products or clones of other existing solutions are not worth anyone’s attention, but iBeesoft Data Recovery is a rare exception. Because the software is heavily inspired by EaseUS Data Recovery, it offers the same polished user experience. Its strong signature scanning capabilities and excellent file type support and scan speed make it a capable contender in the data recovery arena. If only the software wasn’t so barebones, its score could be even higher.

If you’re currently looking for the best data recovery software to help you retrieve important files that have been deleted or otherwise lost, then it’s possible that you’ve already seen our EaseUS Data Recovery review. In that case, iBeesoft may seem familiar to you.

Well, that’s because iBeesoft is actually a clone of EaseUS. But this clone isn’t completely identical—it has its own set of quirks, strengths, and limitations. But before we get to them, let’s lay down some basic facts to give you a better understanding of what we’re reviewing.

Operating on a freemium model, the software allows you to recover up to 2 GB of data for absolutely nothing. It also gives you the benefit of previewing files before recovering them, but the preview feature is limited to 100 MB.

Once you’re ready for more, there’s a selection of paid plans to fit different needs: Personal, Family, and Company licenses. Prices range from $49.95 to a steeper $199.95, depending on how many devices you want to cover. Unfortunately, the software exclusively follows a subscription-based license model, so the total cost of ownership can add up over time.

How to Use iBeesoft Data Recovery

Tested on: Windows 11 (version 22H2)

We believe it’s crucial for you to get a solid grasp of how to use iBeesoft Data Recovery so that you can understand the metrics and benchmarks we’re about to present better. Think of it like this: before you put a car on a dyno, you’d want to know how to actually drive it, right? The same logic applies here. The following detailed walkthrough will get you familiarized with this data recovery application.

Step 1

Installation

The installation process of iBeesoft Data Recovery is as straightforward as it gets, thanks to its standard installation wizard. You'll be prompted to choose your preferred installation location and agree to the terms and conditions—nothing out of the ordinary there.

However, and this is important, if you're trying to recover lost data from a specific drive, do not install the software on the same drive. Installing any program, including a data recovery tool, on the drive you're aiming to recover from could overwrite the very data you're trying to save.

The good news is that iBeesoft is well aware of this potential pitfall. During the installation process, the software pops up a warning message that strongly advises against installing it on the drive where your lost data resides.

Step 2

Source selection

The source selection process in iBeesoft Data Recovery is straightforward. Once the software is up and running, you're presented with a list of available storage devices to choose from, and it takes just a click to select a storage device and scan it.

While the software offers the option to scan specific logical locations like the Recycle Bin, Desktop, or a folder of your choice, don't be fooled. These options might imply a quicker, more targeted search, but logical locations don't correspond to physical locations on your storage device.

In other words, you always need to scan the entire storage device if your goal is to achieve the most comprehensive data recovery results possible.

Step 3

Scanning process

The moment you hit that "Scan" button, the results start rolling in in real time, so you don't have to wait for the entire scan to complete to start seeing which files are recoverable, providing you with an instant overview of what's going on.

Alongside these real-time results, the software also provides a handy display showing the remaining time and the percentage of the scan that's completed. What's also great is that you can hit the "Pause" button at any time, and resuming scanning is identically straightforward.

Step 4

Managing found files

So, you've run your scan and now have a bunch of recoverable files that you need to go through. Unfortunately, this is where iBeesoft Data Recovery leaves a lot to be desired.

Because there are now alternative view modes to write about, you're pretty much stuck with a tree of files and no other way to sort or view them. What's even worse is that file previews are capped at 100 MB, and that's simply not a lot in the day and age of 4K videos and 48 MP photos.

Step 5

Recovery and post-processing

Once you're ready to recover selected files, you can click the Recover button and select a recovery destination. Well, you might then have to wait a bit first because iBeesoft can become unresponsive during the post-processing. The write speed of recoverable files also isn't the fastest, but not many users would mind waiting a few seconds more for an important file to be successfully recovered.

In summary, the recovery process is straightforward but leaves room for improvement, particularly when it comes to speed and post-processing behavior.

SUMMARY

In terms of security, iBeesoft Data Recovery is a mixed bag. While it's malware-free and doesn't compromise its users' privacy, it gets mediocre scores when it comes to data integrity and the reputation of its developer. The software doesn't use non-intrusive read-only algorithms, which raises some concerns about its impact on the data it scans. Moreover, the US-based developer seems focused on repackaging white-label software, so its ability to address bugs and implement new features is probably limited.

Karma, in this context, is an average based on a dozen critical aspects that help us determine the overall health and reliability of the tested software. iBeesoft’s karma score is just 37% mainly because the data recovery tool is an infrequently updated clone of another software. There’s also the fact that the software isn’t particularly popular or well-supported, with neither live chat nor phone support being available.

Usability

18 rating criteria

On the bright side, iBeesoft Data Recovery offers a modern, user-friendly interface that makes it easy even for those who aren’t tech-savvy to navigate the software. All main features are easy to locate, and there’s no need to manually choose between multiple scanning methods (without being completely sure what each does).

But iBeesoft isn’t without its fair share of shortcomings. In fact, there’s enough of them to nearly outweigh the positive aspects. For example, there’s no auto-resume or a variety of different view modes when going through recoverable files, which are inconvenient to preview. So although iBeesoft nails the basics, it leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to crafting a seamless and fully-rounded user experience.

Recovery performance

122 rating criteria

iBeesoft Data Recovery delivers slightly above-average performance because its signature scanner is pretty good. For those who don’t know, a signature scanner in the context of data recovery is a feature that identifies files based on their unique “signatures” or data patterns. Instead of relying solely on file names or directory structures, which might be corrupted or missing, the signature scanner digs deeper into the data itself to recognize specific types of files like JPG images or PDF documents.

In other areas, iBeesoft Data Recovery is acceptable at best. While we understand why the Windows version of the software doesn’t support Mac-specific file systems, we have no idea why its support for Windows file systems isn’t better. Given the absence of additional recovery features and the fact that the software is a clone of EaseUS, we think that the most likely explanation is that iBeesoft isn’t interested in selling the best product—they’re interested only in making the most sales they can.

#FeatureResultDescription
1Quick scan FineWe don't mind that Apple's file system are not supported (there's a Mac version of iBeesoft), but FAT32 and exFAT recovery performance should be improved.
2Deep scan FineAgain, the fact that iBeesoft can't reliably restore the original folder structure and file names when scanning FAT32 and exFAT partitions is a big problem that should be promptly addressed by the software's developers.
3Signature scan GoodWhen scanning for known file signatures, iBeesoft Data Recovery can really shine and deliver results that are unexpectedly good.
4Additional scan features FineThe data recovery software can perform partial file recovery, label recovered files, and handle BitLocker-encrypted drives.
5Device support FineAs long as your internal and external storage devices are not configured in a RAID array, iBeesoft Data Recovery should be able to scan them just fine.
6Other notable recovery features BadThere are only a few other notable recovery features, such as the ability to select and preview files without interrupting the scan.

Attention

Feeling puzzled by terms like "Quick scan" and "Deep scan"? This link explains the different scan modes and their specific purposes.

iBeesoft Data Recovery leaves quite a bit to be desired when it comes to its support for FAT32 and exFAT file systems. For starters, the software struggles with locating small files in root directories, often glossing over them altogether. Even more frustrating is the frequent corruption of folder structures, making it a real headache to locate the files you want to recover. These issues could be a significant drawback for users who rely on these file systems for their storage needs.

Fortunately, the software’s signature scanning capabilities are actually pretty solid. Whether you’re trying to recover RAW photo formats like CR2, CR3, ERF, NEF, or RAF, video formats like AVI, MOV, MP4, and WMV, or various documents, iBeesoft can get the job done.

While iBeesoft does a good job supporting BitLocker and offering excellent file labeling and partial file recovery, the software lacks specific features like the scanning of Windows shadow copies or lost partitions—something that could be a lifesaver in many nerve-wracking data loss situations. It also doesn’t support disk images for scanning and recovery, putting it a step behind more feature-complete competitors.

iBeesoft Data Recovery is just one of several data recovery software applications released by the company, and its focus are desktop computers and laptops. Those who need to recover data from mobile devices are encouraged to use iBeesoft iPhone Data Recovery instead.

Still, even if we judge iBeesoft only by how well it performs when recovering lost data from internal/external storage devices, the lack of support for RAID arrays is disappointing. Hopefully, a future version update will fix this glaring omission.

17Forensic features0

As far as additional features that are not essential for the successful completion of a data recovery process go, iBeesoft Data Recovery does leave you wanting for more, but it doesn’t leave you completely empty-handed.

For starters, the software has a praise-worthy scan speed, which can be a real time-saver. You’ve also got the option to scan free space only, a feature that can help zero in on the recently deleted files without scanning existing data. The flexibility to start recovering files while the scan is still ongoing, as well as preview recoverable items without stopping the scan, adds a layer of convenience to the experience.

However, many highly useful extra features that are readily supported by leaving data recovery software tools are missing. Examples include bootable recovery drive creation, bad sector management, and RAID reconstruction, but the table above mentions even more offenders.

Extra features—or lack there of—is where iBeesoft Data Recovery falls short. The utility you often find in top-tier data recovery solutions—like disk space mapping, disk clean-up, or even tools for repairing corrupted videos and photos—is completely missing.

#FeatureResultDescription
1Disk space mapping NoNot supported
2Disk clean up NoNot supported
3Corrupted video repair tool NoNot supported
4Corrupted photo repair tool NoNot supported
5S.M.A.R.T. NoNot supported
6Duplicate finder NoNot supported
7Built-in disk space secure eraser NoNot supported
8Disk cloning NoNot supported
9Disk surface test NoNot supported
10Secure data shredding NoNot supported

Similarly, you won’t find advanced functionalities like S.M.A.R.T. data analysis or disk cloning, features that can be especially useful for preventing data loss from happening in the first place.

The lack of these extra features means that while iBeesoft may be sufficient for straightforward data recovery, it’s not a comprehensive solution for broader data management needs.

What Users Say about iBeesoft Data Recovery or Windows

This is an ABSOLUTE SCAM!!! Not only the software is not worth it, but if you purchase a license, REMEMBER TO NOT RENEW IT BECAUSE THEY DO NOT WARN YOU!

My subscription renewed and I received email from PayPal. I IMMEDIATELY requested cancellation in PayPal and guess what... PayPal asked me for proof that I did not received communication?!?!

How can I prove something that I did not received?!?!

Pedro Lima (trustpilot.com)

It's very quick to install, simple to use. and fairly quick - considering I was doing a deep recovery. It managed to recover the majority of files that had disappeared from a memory card. We thought they were lost but the software recovered nearly all of the videos, images etc.

I might not ever need it again but I'm keeping this on my desktop just in case. Great stuff.

lee764 (appsumo.com)

I don’t really know what to think about the program. On the one hand, there’s a bright and simple design, an easy interface and a minimum of options so as not to confuse an ordinary user. But the absence of a free version with a working recovery makes this irrelevant since only professionals will pay $45 for a license.

On the other hand, iBeesoft Free Data Recovery is lightweight, convenient, fast and quite effective software.

Denis Zaychenko (root-nation.com)

Other competitor software may have more reviews than this iBeesoft Data Recovery Review, but a software that has end-user ease of use in mind along with an extensive money-back guarantee helps a user in making a decision. One feature of the limited trial should be present to help user acid test out the software in actual scenarios. Currently, the software requests entry of registration information for recovering the available files, and if the trial provides recovery of a limited number of files or limited data users can get actual usage and see the utility of software before committing to purchase.
